Janet Smith Salabelle and Desmond Knox-Leet were in their early 20s on the day the second world war ended in Europe. They had both been art students before the war and went on to have renowned careers after; Desmond co-founded the perfume business, Dyptique in Paris and Janet became a respected yoga teacher in Cambridge.
